WEATHER
The
Foster City lagoon is a very pleasant place. In the mornings
there is typically a light wind of 5-10 knots (i.e., 6-12 mph)
which usually increases by another 5-10 knots in the afternoons.
These winds tend to be reasonably steady but not howling. They
typically blow "on shore," from west to east, making it easy
to sail back to our location. We are on the windiest part of
the lagoon; the other side is very mild and wind free.
The
lagoon is salt water but in-land so it is warm (some people
even swim for exercise) and not too deep (5-8 feet). TOP
ACTIVITIES
| This
is a great area to bring your entire family and friends,
even if they do not windsurf. Besides seacycling, kayaking,
picnicking, bird watching, and great walking around the
lagoon you can also bring your bike or skates. |
 |
 |
The
Foster City Recreation Center is open just behind our site
(has restrooms and sometimes very nice activities such as
craft shows & music in the park on weekends). Across the
street is a shopping center with a coffee shop, a large
Safeway for picnic supplies and a Long Drugs. One block
north you will find Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Boston Market
and Costco. TOP |
LOCATION
The
Foster City Lagoon headquarters of California Windsurfing is
very convenient to most of the San Francisco Bay area. It is
located in Foster City near the intersection of Highway 101
and Highway 92 (San Mateo Bridge).
|
Directions:
From
the intersection of Highway 101 and 92 go south on Highway
101 to the next exit which is Hillsdale Blvd.
Take
East Hillsdale Blvd. approximately 4 blocks east past
the lagoon to Shell Boulevard.
Turn
right on Shell Blvd and park in the Foster City Recreation
Center parking lot which you will see two driveways to
your right. We will be directly behind the tennis courts
at the boat house on the waters edge;
it will be easy to see our big
white truck and large flags flying there.
